Instructions to Authors
Pakistan Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology (PJBB) publishes peer reviewed papers on all aspects of agriculture, medical and other fields of biology, as reviews (solicited or submitted), research articles (full length and short communications). Contributions are considered for evaluation on the understanding that they are original and not being considered for publication elsewhere. Upon preliminary evaluation and checking for plagiarism and format by the Editorial Office, the papers are sent to referees (experts in the field) for evaluation. The decision of the Editor-in-Chief to publish a paper in concurrence with the referee(s) opinion is considered final.
Submission of Manuscript:
Articles may be submitted in Word format (.doc or .docx files) by email to pjbb@wum.edu.pk. Upon receipt, the manuscripts are allocated an identification number and reviewed initially by the Editorial Board, and if found suitable is sent out for review. The manuscripts not on the format are returned to the authors. A review of a paper normally takes about two months, and a decision, whatsoever, is conveyed to the corresponding author. After acceptance, correction of proofs, and transfer of copyrights, a paper is published on its turn.
Review Process:
All papers submitted to the Pakistan Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology are subject to a masked peer review. The criteria for acceptance of articles in the Journal are originality of the idea, unique argument, clarity of objectives, sound methodology, clear and logical analysis and depth of discussion, appropriate examples, consistent structure and presentation, fairly good English and contribution to knowledge. The Editor reserves the right of editing the manuscript, returning it to the author for revision or rejecting any manuscript as unsuitable in topic, style or form with or without requesting external review.
Preparation of Manuscript:
A typical page of text in the journal contains ~520 words. Manuscripts should be typed double spaced, with 2.54 cm margin on each side and paginated. Manuscript may be within 4000 words excluding tables, figures and references. Manuscripts may be prepared in the following order:
Title page:
The Title page would include the title of the article, names of the authors, their institutional affiliations, postal addresses, contact numbers, and email addresses. One author should be identified as the corresponding author. The email address of the corresponding author will be displayed in the article.
Abstract:
The first page of the article should have an abstract of the article in 200-250 words preceding the main text. The abstract should be informative and state the scope of the work, methodology and principal findings.
Keywords:
4-6 keywords may be included.
Abbreviations:
A term to be abbreviated must be written out completely the first time followed immediately by its abbreviation in parentheses. Thereafter, the abbreviation may be used.
References:
The American Psychological Association (APA) style of references should strictly be followed. APA does not use footnotes or endnotes for citations. Every citation must appear in your reference list. A list of references should only contain those citations that are given in the text of manuscript. All references should be given in an alphabetical order of works cited in the research paper. The reference guidelines are consistent with advice given in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th Edition, and July 2009. The format of references is strictly be followed APA.
Figures:
Tables (Tables and figures may be indicated by numbers and arranged in manuscript after references. All figures and tables should be cited in the text).
